Planning a party for Halloween this year?
Whether you’re having a party for your kids, or a bit of a shin-dig with your friends, your guests will love these DIY Halloween Mason Jars!
Here is a step by step guide on how to make your very own!
What you will need:
- Mason Jars (you can use an old pickle jar or pasta sauce jar)
- Tissue paper in your choice of color (Green for Frankenstein would be cute too!)
- Black Card
- Glue (Preferably super glue)
- Sponge Brush
- Scissors
- LED Tea Lights
- Varnish (optional)
Step 1:
First, cut your tissue paper to fit around your jar. We didn’t cover the bottom of the jar. It’s ok if you overlap the edges of the tissue paper – this can add some texture and we’re going for a bit of a rustic look.
Step 2:
Use your super glue to stick the tissue paper to the outside of your jar.
Wrap your tissue paper around the jar, smoothing as much as possible with your hands. Do not expect it to end up smooth – in the end it will look textured and crafty.
Step 3:
If your jar isn’t looking too shabby, trim off any excess tissue paper if need be.
Step 4:
While this is drying (for 10-15 minutes or so), work on cutting out your cardstock to create eyes and a mouth. Glue these to the outside of your jar.
Step 5:
Use your varnish to do a final coat over the jar. This will keep your design water tight, and you will be able to use these again next year!
Step 6: YOU CHOOSE
Yahoo! Your Halloween Mason Jars will be looking amazing! Now you can decide whether you want to use these as drinking glasses, or tea lights for your interior and garden decorations – or both!
